Fernwood Cove – 7/15Posted by on July 15, 2016

Friday’s Blog was written by 9th Grade Bunk Mom and Vocal Theater Counselor, Leah.

Where is this summer going?! Today was our final lazy Friday of the summer. We started the morning off with a bit of a sleep-in and then a DELICIOUS breakfast buffet full of treats such as bagels, muffins, monkey bread and much, much more deliciousness!

Then, in the morning, we had senior services where the oldest girls in camp, the Flamingos (also my children) gave speeches and sang a few songs describing what camp has meant to them throughout their summers here. They titled their services: “This is good luck and not goodbye.” It was an absolutely beautiful and moving morning hearing the girls reflect on their time here as well as give advice to all the other younger campers; I’ll admit a few tears were shed!!

However, we quickly shook off the tears and headed into an extremely fun-filled afternoon as it was COLOR WAR!! The flamingos, who plan color war, made it a Super Mario theme and the whole afternoon was filled with fun games, relay races, water balloons, Mario Kart races, etc. as well as the shouts of green and white cheers! The girls cannot wait to find out who wins at closing campfire on Sunday night.

Finally, after a delicious dinner of burgers and such a high-energy day, we had a more chill evening program with an FC favorite: movie night. We watched a classic, The Parent Trap, and the girls absolutely adored it.  With that another day at the Cove comes to a close and it is hard to believe that we only have a few more extraordinary days left here together.
