Green and White Color WarPosted by on August 13, 2016

Today has been yet another amazing day at the cove starting with a lovely sweet breakfast filled with muffins and pancakes to name a few.

The day kicked off standing in the heat of the motherrrrrrrr of all scorchers (reaching temperatures  throughout the day of 95 degrees) at flag raising before making our way into the Chick for senior services. Now even I must admit this was a very emotional service filled with lots of tears, songs and laughter. Being able to hear the different speech’s from all the Seniors, each telling a different story giving, all off us an insight into their years here at camp, really showed how much Fernwood Cove meant to each and every one of them.

This was followed by Outdoor bunk time where each bunk went off to do different activities such as swimming in the crib, making tie die t-shirts and running round the football (soccer) pitch with the sprinklers on. Lunch today was a FC favorite… Lasagnaaaaaaaaaa with garlic bread sticks!

Following extended rest hour this afternoon, the seniors hosted ‘Colour War’ Pokemon themed. They all put so much hard work into making this a fun filled afternoon for all, having different stations situated around camp including a tug of war, memory game, gaga, treasure hunt, trivia and crib water relay. After each grade had attended every station it was then a chance for a massive game of Pokemon Hunt with the Flams and counselors all running off to hide before being found and chased by the rest of camp being brought in gaining points for either the Green or White team. I myself thought I had a great hiding place being dressed and painted in green, camouflaging myself into a fern bush until a couple of the white team campers had clearing got tipped off by someone saying he’s in here somewhere, at which point I made a run for it being caught shortly after!

This evening the sun and heat of the day was cleared up with the clouds appearing and the heavens opening flooding areas of camp within an hour. Luckily we were all inside enjoying burgers before walking over to the  Chick for movie night where we all laughed and sang watching Shrek.

Its hard to believe that there are only 2 days left of summer!? I’m not quite sure where the last 3 and a half weeks have gone, but as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun!
