MEDIA

The Fernwood Cove Media program offers campers the ability to learn about both digital and print media.  Campers can choose from photography, yearbook and digital slide show activities, all of which provide campers with an avenue of self expression. 

Media counselors bring a strong background, both personal and professional to camp.  Many of them are studying media related topics and have practical experience in both photography and cinematography. 

Photography
Fernwood Cove’s photography program allows campers to take, develop and print their own black and white photographs. Campers learn how to use our 35mm SLR cameras while taking pictures of the endless scenery of camp.  Once campers have taken their pictures they learn how to develop the film and print their pictures in our darkroom.  Counselors work with each camper to perfect one or two of her own prints during the week. 

Digital Slide Show
Campers who take digital slide show are able to experience every aspect of digital photography. Campers work with counselors to document every aspect of camp and produce a digital slide show that is shown on one of the last nights of camp. Campers are able to express their camp experience through this digital media that will be watched by campers and counselors for years to come.

Yearbook
Each summer the Fernwood Cove yearbook is completely designed and developed by campers and the yearbook counselor.  Campers learn to take and edit digital photographs, create page layouts and most of all work within a deadline. Every camper receives her yearbook during the last days of camp, allowing campers to sign and leave messages for each other. The Fernwood Cove yearbook provides campers with a lifetime reminder of their fun-filled days at camp.
