HOW TO APPLY

We request that the staff have completed at least one year of college/university studies and be turning 19 within the current year.

1) Read the information provided about what it is like to work at Fernwood Cove, including the Staff Policies.

2) If you are a former Fernwood Cove Camper, please read this very important Letter before applying. If not, please go directly to #3.

3) Fill out the online application OR download the .pdf application and mail or fax it back to us.

4) Download three reference forms. Please have three reliable people fill the forms out and send them to us by email, fax or mail. Your references can fill out our online reference form (just give them the link) or they can also download our reference form in PDF file and mail it to us.

The references should be from the following categories:

  • A previous employer or supervisor, this is someone who can talk about work ethic, job performance, etc.
  • Someone whose child or children you have babysat, coached, tutored or taught before. This is someone who can talk about your work with children.
  • Someone who can comment on your skill set in a particular area that you are applying for.
  • Someone who can do any of the above and also comment on your character.

5) All applicants will be interviewed by a director.

6) Please fill out our Certifications/Skills and Experience Form. This will help us to determine your salary should both the Applicant and Fernwood Cove decide that it is a good fit for employment. You can fill out our online form here.

7) If you are not a United States Citizen and are over the age of 21 by June 15th, 2008, and have a valid driver's license, please fill out our driving record form and fax or email it back to us. Download .pdf Form Here

8) If you are a United States Citizen, you will need to download our background check form, fill it out, sign it and send or fax it back to us. International Staff will be required to get a background check in order to obtain their visa. Please send this background check to us once you have had it completed.

9) We would also appreciate your picture sent to us by mail or e-mail. It can be directly uploading through the on line application. Or feel free to attach it to an email or send it to us by mail.

In order to read PDF files you will need a copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you need this program, it is a free download from the Adobe Website.

After an interview process, staff are selected on the basis of their skills and interest in working with children. Creativity, a good sense of humor, and maturity are prerequisites of all staff. In many cases, college credit and independent study requirements can be fulfilled for camp work.

If hired, you will be informed about all of the forms and information that you and the camp will need.

Fernwood Cove hires for the following positions: (All Fernwood Cove waterfront activity staff must have current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Fernwood Cove offers an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course (this includes both First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer)course prior to camp starting. Taking our class or one at home is a must. We encourage US staff to take a class at home.)
