MEXICAN and MINI COURSE MONDAY!

Day 3 of our first focus week and what an awesome day it was!
At breakfast chef Keith informed us that it was Mexican Monday – all day we were served different types of Mexican food; Mexican style scrambled eggs, make your own fajitas and quesadillas. It was such a hit with everyone that there was no more left overs to be had at any meal. After breakfast the staff received their scheduled mini course activity (mini course is an evening program where the girls can sign up to small group activities that are held all over camp). We then went to the chick to perform a skit for our mini course to get the girls to sign up, there were options from swim to the island to kickball to face painting.

In our morning and afternoon focuses of stand up paddle boarding we focused on the nature that surrounds us in the lake, the girls paired up on the boards and were able to take their time looking for different types of plants or even animals. Lily pads, loons and fish were at the top of the list! Over the next few days we will be practicing our paddling skills when we head to the Island which the girls have been looking forward to all week.

Mini course time – My mini course was stand up paddle boarding yoga, we had 8 girls out on the lake with myself and another counselor. We had lots of fun trying to do different yoga positions on the boards, we started off with some easier positions that required less balancing skills and then once they were perfected we moved onto the harder ones. It was a challenge for all but we had lots of fun jumping out of our comfort zones.

Afterwards we had plenty of time for the girls to go and spend some quality time with their cove sisters.

All in all a fun packed day was had by EVERYONE!

Until next time Fernwood Cove families.
