Fernwood Cove – 6/28Posted by Beigette Gill on June 29, 2016
Tuesday’s Blog was written by 5th Grade Bunk Mom and Water Ski/Wakeboard Counselor Yasmin.
It was beautiful day Fernwood Cove, the sun was shining. The day started off the best way ever, with a lazy breakfast. Now who doesn’t love a lazy breakfast, moved onto extended clean up which I think the girls loved as it wasn’t a rush for once!
We then transitioned into flag raising and counselor coffee. The campers were then able to spend an hour with their cove sister, participating in different activities all over camp with just their cove sister. During this time I spent my time down at the waterfront helping the campers make sand castle. The horn went off to signal that cove sister time was over and now it was time for bunk time!
5th grade all decided to join together and make it an age group activity to get the girls to know different girls from different bunks. They were split into different groups so they were with someone from a different bunk. Then, they were sent all over camp to different activities to get clues, moving from one activity to the next. For lunch, we had a camp favorite, chicken stuffed with broccoli.
Rest hour ended and then it was time for community service. My group was tasked with clearing the trails up to the high ropes course. Between all of the counselors and campers, we achieved over 600 hours of community service! It was a scorcher, so a fire drill was called and all the campers were able to run under the fire hose, cooling down from a warm afternoon.
As the day went on and the sun went down it was time for EP. Fernwood Cove had former Camper, CIT and Counselor, Delaney, join us with her dance group, Hio Ridge Dance Group, come and preform for the girls. Everyone was involved and ended a great day with a great night!
