Fernwood Cove – 6/30Posted by Beigette Gill on July 01, 2016
Thursday’s Blog was written by 9th Grade Bunk Mom and Swimming Counselor, Zoe.
Thursday has brought another full on and exciting day at Fernwood Cove. After the spectacular Wanger Banger we had last night it was a relief to wake to clear sunny skies today. The campers were all excited for the final day of week one focuses and to demonstrate the skills they learned throughout the week across all activities. In the swimming department, the final focus day meant it was time for the campers to take the end of level swimming tests. I am very pleased to announce that every single camper passed with flying colors!!!
As a counselor I have really enjoyed over the past week watching all the campers that have taken swimming improve their skills across all the different strokes, building their confidence in swimming and water awareness.
Dinner tonight was a Fernwood Cove favorite: Pizza!! I heard many a comment that this years pizza was even better than last years. We also had four Birthdays at camp today with the whole camp sharing their well wishes through singing our special camp ‘happy birthday’ song multiple times.
Tonight’s evening program was the first performance night of the session, giving campers the opportunity to showcase their skills in gymnastics, dance, theater, guitar and singing to their fellow campers. Campers have been working hard all week in focuses to perfect their performances and the effort they have been putting in really showed in tonight’s show. Many congratulatory cheers and applause was awarded and I am already looking forward to next week’s show.
As always today has been another extraordinary day at Fernwood Cove. Looking forward to tomorrow for our first special Friday of the session!!
