Fernwood Cove – 7/30Posted by on July 31, 2016

Saturday’s Blog was written by 7th Grade Bunk Mom and Waterfront Counselor, Caroline Seibel.

It was another extraordinary day at Fernwood Cove!  The kids woke up early, excited to check out their new schedules – today marked the first day of a new week of focus activities.  Everyone was early and wide awake at Flag Raising, where we wished a happy birthday to 3 different  extraordinary people!

After a breakfast of Belgian waffles, the girls headed off to their new activities under a blazing sun.  The beautiful weather continued all day, through lunch (chicken and broccoli alfredo, and everyone’s favorite for dessert – COOKIES!) and into the afternoon.  Rest hour kicked off with Junior Beach, a special privilege for our 8th grade campers to enjoy relaxing on the beachfront and in the lake during this hour.  The waterfront was buzzing all afternoon, with the warm weather convincing everyone to jump in!  The lake was full of girls and counselors cooling off between focuses, and Shower/Dip time saw nearly half the camp going for a swim.

Dinner was make-your-own tacos, with the fluff table as a popular side option.  Campfire followed, full of stories and songs – the night was a mix of classic favorites and some new songs from first-year counselors!  The girls emerged from the campfire circle to a real Nature Appreciation Moment; the sun setting over the Chick was a watercolor of orange, pink, purple, and yellow streaks.  Call to Quarters summoned the girls to their bunks for the evening as the sunset darkened – a picturesque ending to a perfect day!
