Fernwood Cove – 8/2Posted by Beigette Gill on August 03, 2016
Tuesday’s Blog was written by 6th Grade Bunk Mom and Tennis Counselor, Helen.
As reveille rang this morning, excitement filled the cove for the first trip day of the session!! A hearty breakfast of French toast served with scrambled eggs was eaten before the campers separated into their groups ready for the day’s adventures!!
Many amazing excursions took place including cliff jumping at Frenchmans Hole; swimming in Rattle Snake Pool & stand up paddle boarding at the beach – other trips also included berry picking, hiking and canoeing!! …Not forgetting the 8th grade overnight which left for Acadia National Park.
Nine 6th grade girls, Jenny, Caitlyn & myself all went canoeing to Wolf’s Neck Farm. The sun shone while we paddled against the current to a small island where we jumped out of the canoes and went for a dip in the sea!! Singing and laughter was heard all round – we all even played a much loved game of mafia before paddling back to the beach. In true trip day style, we stopped off for some ice cream on our way home – ‘cotton candy’ and ‘caramel caribou’ being the favorites of the day!
The sun was still shining as the day trippers began to arrive back to Fernwood Cove despite it apparently pouring throughout the day. Tonight’s EP was a particular favourite of mine – age group activities – where the 6th grade girls in camp wrote a new camp song together for their age group to sing at campfire!!!
