Fernwood Cove – 7/27Posted by on July 28, 2016

Wednesday’s Blog was written by 7th Grade Buncle and Waterfront Counselor, Austyn.

Just another day in paradise. Sun splitting the sky, little to no wind, juuuuuust the right temperature. Today was just a regular day of focuses for me down on the waterfront with kayaks, SUP boards, sailing boats, canoes and the crew boat scattering Island Pond. The sun really was beating down on us today but all the counselors must have been on their A game; no pink children walking around at dinner.

The second last day of focuses for week 1 saw a few brilliant performances from the kids as an amalgamation of week of learning. Some brilliant paddling technique and a great attitude saw all take leaps and bounds before we begin a new week of focuses on Saturday. Dinner was one of a kind, being Wing Wednesday and the featured Fluff night that got campers and counselors alike very excited.

The day was rounded off with possibly one of the best EP’s; Counselor Hunt! Each counselor is dressed in a costume, hiding around camp waiting to be found. If found, they must appear in front of a panel of Flamingo judges and explain why they are “trespassing” on the property. A good few of us ended up in the lake after being found guilty of not having a solid alibi but the water was just as warm as it had been all day so more a pleasure than a punishment.

As we say back in Scotland, “today was a belter”. The kids were in fantastic spirit and so was everyone looking after them. Hope you enjoyed this wee read folks, have a great day.
